You know sometimes it is just fun to be a dad. Today was a great day as the kids and I went on a bicycle ride. For those of you who know me, you know that I am a cycling fanatic, and to have my children go with me was one of the greatest things that could happen to a dad who is a cyclists. Ben wanted to go ride so we ask Sammy if she wanted to go too and she said yes. Ben took us on a rather long ride going through some of the new part of the neighborhood, then back, then through the old part of the neighborhood. We had a great time together, no arguing and no crashes, at least not until later. It was really fun and now that Samantha has a new bicycle (see below) she really can ride now. She flies when she is riding. Really kind of scares me though as she isn't wearing her helmet, but we bought her a new Hanna Montana one so I hope she will start wearing it when we get Ben his new helmet.

Trek Mystic 20

After a long and hot ride we came back inside to cool down a bit, after a short cool down we went back outside. Played a little basketball and then back inside for additional cool down. It was hot today about 90 but was very muggy, it had rained the day before so there was still a lot of moisture in the ground as well as in the air. Well it was back out for another ride but this time we had crashing, first Ben was turning to sharp on his bicycle, his pedal caught and down he went on the asphalt. This caused a very scratched up knee and we had blood! So inside to patch it up. He said he didn't want to ride anymore but after we cleaned up the wound and put a bandage on it he said he thought that he could ride again. Well in the mean time, while we were inside, Samantha had crashed outside but luckily it was in the grass so there was no blood, just a few tears. After a short rest from all the trauma ( may be drama ) we were on the road again. I put my bike computer back on my bicycle and started the timer this time; so I would know how far we had gone. Well we went 1.2 miles its a great start to a great family tradition with my children.
