Well I finally know what kind of worker I am. Just read this girls post on "bursty" workers and it sounds like me. Here is another one referenced in her post. I have been called someone with low drive but I don't adhere to the age old work week. I stay up late at night and can easily get things done then. I once read that to find the best programmer in a department look to the laziest one. Now you might think "that is ridiculus!" but think about it if he is truly lazy then he will find the fastest and most efficient way to get his work done. Result better faster programs. I can speak from personal experience. When I worked at large book wholesaler we had to convert the UPS charts in a different format than what we received them for our shipping programs. When I was trained the guy that I was replacing showed me how to format it manually. Well this just wouldn't do, it would take me half a day to reformat several zone charts. So I spent a whole day writing a Perl program to reformat the charts for me. When I was done it just took a few seconds. Just because someone doesn't want to work 18 hours a day doesn't mean he is not productive. Again read the "bursty" worker analysis. 'nuff said
